FireStep was founded in 2011 to publish new and out of print fiction and non-fiction across the military history genre.
Our imprints consist of five divisions each handling a dedicated theme:
FireStep Press is for newly sourced and commissioned non-fiction product. Our first title in this range is “Enduring Freedom an Afghan Anthology” for which we are extremely proud to have formar Poet Laureate, Sir Andrew Motion, working with us on the introduction and poetry selection.
We are working on some exciting titles for 2012/3:
“Chin Up, Head Down” by Helena Tym, mother of Rfn Cyrus Thatcher who was killed in Afghanistan 2009.
“London: Bombed, Blitzed and Blown Up” by Met Police explosives expert Ian Jones MBE.
“Race2Recovery” the story behind the inspiring racing team of wounded soldiers who have taken up cross country racing and decided to raise money for the incredible service charities that have helped them during their recovery. Their end goal is the Dakar Rally 2013.
FireStep Editions brings back to life old, out of print reference based product. These will usually be reformatted facsimile editions of content such as that previously issued by the War Office or Army Stationery Services department. Our first major project in this imprint is a collaboration with the National Army Museum in London, which brings together an unprecedented range of original facsimile editions from the old War Office Library in Whitehall.
FireStep Classics are reissued, out of print and hard to find books from long ago and popular titles we have secured from other current publishers and rights holders.
FireStep Books is our imprint for titles sourced from existing UK and international publishers to whom their edition has gone out of print and we have secured new rights to publish.
FireStep Media handles anything not deemed a book! From posters to playing cards, maps and prints we are looking to work with any persons or organisations with a view to developing a range of exciting new product.
